Nollywood actress, Ufuoma McDermott has on behalf of Nigerians tendered an apology to Indian chef, Lata Tondon, who is the former Guinness World Record cook-a-thon holder.
Recall that during Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon event to take over Chef Lata’s crown, Nigerians were ruthless to her with many cyberbullying her.
Now apologizing to her in a lengthy post on her Instagram page, Ufuoma praised her for paving the way for many young ladies to thread on.
She noted how Chef Lata lit a torch to light a path and now many can see on that path.
Despite her crown being stripped of her, Ufuoma noted how her title of being the first woman to hold the record will forever be known.
Crowning her an inspiration, she urged her to keep speaking to young people about their dreams.
“Today I choose to celebrate an inspiration @cheflatatondon. Because she did, our awesome #HildaBaci could Lata, you lit a torch to light a path and now many can see on that path.
First woman to hold a @guinnessworldrecords for the longest cooking by an individual is no mean feat.
Please forgive our overt excitement. We simply pointed out our own to “win”. But even our own has acknowledged that you were the inspiration for the journey.
Your title is NEVER lost. Posterity will remember that you were the first woman and you held it for a long time. In the same vein today. Hilda is inspiring many others. Keep speaking to young people about their dreams. Keep encouraging them. Because indeed, you are a beautiful inspiration”.
