In a recent interview on the official YouTube channel of Echo Room, popular Nigerian singer Portable has opened up about his encounter with fellow singer Davido in America.
Portable also revealed why he has decided to stop asking Davido for a feature in his songs.
During the interview, Portable claimed that he is wealthier than Davido and expressed his unwillingness to bow down to him for a favor. He recounted an incident where he had to cancel one of his shows, which was worth $6,000, to have dinner with Davido upon his invitation.
“I was in America looking for a foreign artist to have a collaboration with before Davido invited me over to have dinner with him. I had to cancel one of my shows, which is worth $6,000, in order to be with Davido,” Portable stated.
According to Portable, Davido had promised to feature him in one of his songs. However, while they were enjoying themselves at a club, singer Zlatan Ibile allegedly called Davido and advised him not to associate with Portable due to a past incident between them. This phone call apparently led Davido to change his mind about the collaboration.
Portable expressed his frustration, saying, “He promised me that he would feature me in one of his songs, and when we were having fun together at a club, singer Zlatan Ibile called him and told him not to have anything to do with me, and that was how Davido changed his mind because of something that happened between us in the past.”
The singer went on to assert his financial status, claiming, “I’m richer than Davido, I can’t bow to him because I want a favor, and I won’t beg him again. I canceled two big live shows in America just because I wanted him to feature me in a song, but he was judging me with what happened in the past, and he refused to grant my request.”
