The outgoing Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, says he is not afraid to appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission if he is invited to give account of his financial management of the state.

Obaseki stated this while speaking at the EdoBEST National Results-Sharing Session in Abuja on Wednesday, November 6. He said he had nothing to hide and he would willingly surrender himself to the anti-graft agency if he is needed.

“I’m not afraid of the EFCC. Why should I be? What is important is focus. I came into office and ignored the noise, concentrating on what I felt was important, and today you can see the results. If the EFCC calls on me, I will hand myself over; I have nothing to hide,” he said.

Obaseki who is of the Peoples Democratic Party, has served for two terms as the governor of Edo State, and will be leaving office on November 12 for his successor, Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress.
