Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has expressed that many Nigerians no longer feel proud to identify as citizens of the country.
In a video circulating online on Thursday, Igboho, seen at an airport in the United Kingdom, attributed the loss of patriotism to issues such as corruption, insecurity, and a struggling economy.
The separatist argued that if Nigeria cannot function as a united nation, various ethnic groups should be allowed to go their separate ways.
Igboho further emphasized that Yoruba youths, having gained valuable knowledge and experience from their travels abroad, are eager to transform the Yoruba Nation into a modern and prosperous society, comparable to those in Europe.
He remarked, “Even at the airport, there is no security. Your belongings can be stolen from your bag in Nigerian airports. These are some of the things that discourage people from being proud of Nigeria.
“Such experiences make us hesitant to identify as Nigerians. That’s why we advocate for separation. If Nigeria isn’t working, it’s better we go our separate ways.
“Our Yoruba youths, who have traveled the world, are equipped with knowledge and experience. When they return to Yoruba land, they will use it to build and transform the nation into one that mirrors Europe.”
