The Oyo State Police Command on Thursday admonished people, especially residents, to always report any money that enters their bank account which they are not expecting.
It added that the refusal to report such cash lodgment may land the person in prison as some criminals now lodge money into people’s account when nemesis is about to catch up with them.
If money you are not expecting enters your account, report, so as to avoid prison, Oyo Police says.
The command disclosed this on its Twitter handle on Thursday apparently following cases that the command has handled involving people who got credit alerts they are not expecting and who eventually landed in trouble during Investigation of those who lodged the money in the first place.
According to the police command, rather than go to worship centres to do thanksgiving when people receive money, they are not expecting in their bank accounts, they should quickly alert the banks or nearest police stations about the lodgment as this will save them from any embarrassing situation.
The command added that anyone who gets money he or she is not expecting in their bank accounts and go ahead to spend the money risks being prosecuted and may eventually land in prison.
