President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has revealed the odd jobs he did to survive during his sojourn in the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Tinubu, while speaking with the Nigerian community in France, recalled working as a night guard and doorman in the U.S. and UK.

During the interactive session, the president noted that he achieved his aim doing menial jobs abroad.

He pledged his administration’s effort towards ensuring more creative and innovative policies that would impact the livelihood of Nigerians.

Tinubu, who admitted that the challenges before his government were enormous, however said; “but do we have hope? Yes. With perseverance, determination and persistence, we can achieve whatever we desire.”

“It is clear to me, I know the road and I’ve been through what many of you have been through outside the country.

“I’ve been in America. In the UK, I have been a night guard security; a doorman in America. But I have achieved my aim,” he added.

President Tinubu earlier called for unity to stabilise the country, while issuing a reminder to the citizenry that he is their leader regardless of the party they voted for during the 2023 presidential election.

According to a statement by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Dele Alake on Saturday, he made the comment during an interactive session with the Nigerian community in France.

Tinubu departed Nigeria days ago to attend a two-day economic summit hosted by the French government.

He promised to work in the best interest of the people of Nigeria and bring about prosperity.

Tinubu said; “We must promote unity and stability for all. Whether you voted for me during the elections, or not, I am your President. I will work on your behalf to ensure a turning point of prosperity.”

On his decision to immediately remove fuel subsidy, the president said; “We have transport challenges, electricity challenges, infrastructural challenges and others. I let out the giant elephant of fuel subsidy without bringing down the house.”
