Empress Gifty Adorye is confident that she will be the first Gospel musician to represent Ghana and win a BET award.
D-Black, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Mzvee and Kwesi Arthur are the only Ghanaians to have earned BET award nominations with Sarkodie and Stonebwoy the only artistes to have won.
“I will do my best to be on the red carpet of BET and take part. This is not about standing on the Red carpet alone but also be announced as the winner,” she told Accra FM.
She, however, bemoaned the rate at which Ghanaian musicians have to pay DJs and presenters payola before their songs are aired on TV and Radio.
“Our main challenge as musicians in Ghana is the payment of payola after a release before one can have his or her songs played on-air,” she said.
