I lost 34 family members to Kaduna bombing – Resident

Idris Dahiru, a resident of Tudun Biri in Igabi LGA, Kaduna State, has revealed that he lost 34 members of his family to the Nigerian Army’s aerial accidental bombing.

The tragic incident which happened on Sunday, Dec 3, while villagers were celebrating Maulud Nabiyy (the birth of Prophet Muhammad) left scores dead.

Dahiru made the disclosure while speaking with BBC Hausa, Dahiru, adding that the airstrikes disrupted their celebration and this led to the killing of many.

He said; “Our annual Maulud celebration was shattered by unexpected airstrikes. The first bomb exploded without warning, killing innocent people, including women and children, some victims were torn apart by the blast.

“As we rushed to aid the injured, the jet returned, unleashing a second bomb, this time, many of those who had come to help were among the casualties. My family alone has lost 34 members in this tragedy. We have 66 loved ones receiving medical care at Barau Dikko Hospital.”

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has ordered an immediate investigation into the Nigerian military’s accidental bombing of Tudun Biri in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A statement by the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale on Tuesday, conveyed Tinubu’s sympathies with the families of the victims and the Kaduna State Government.

The statement reads; “President Bola Tinubu sympathizes with the families of victims, the people and the government of Kaduna State over the bombing mishap in a village at Tundun Biri in Igabi Local Government Area of the state.

“President Tinubu describes the incident as very unfortunate, disturbing, and painful, expressing anger and grief over the tragic loss of Nigerian lives.

“The President directed a thorough and full-fledged investigation into the incident and called for calm while the authorities looked diligently into the mishap.

“The President also directs swift and comprehensive medical attention for surviving victims while praying for the repose of the souls of the deceased”.
