AWARD-WINNING musician and songwriter, Iledare Oluwajuwonlo, A.K.A Jaywon has said he can’t put a date to when he recorded his hit track, ‘Aje’, which is currently receiving massive media buzz.
Aje, which now has a remix with two talented young acts, Barry Jhay and former YBNL signee, Lyta, was originally released last year in November, but it came as a surprise to the singer that it got a lot of attention and became an immediate hit.
“First of all, I didn’t even know I had a song like that,” says Jaywon.
“I had another song with another artiste and one day, I was on my way to the airport and then I saw a mail. I downloaded the song on my laptop. I listened to the song more than hundred times and I knew that song came from somewhere but I couldn’t place it. I didn’t know what was wrong with me when I recorded the song because the lines there are just too deep. Then I realised it had to do with people committing suicide.
“Because of the kind of person I am, I always feel like no matter what happens to anyone, so far you are alive, you are better than people in the grave.
“The only thing I can remember is that I knew I was in a party with Dj Sgee the last time in the club, and the next thing I heard was that he committed suicide. I think that’s the only thing that could have led me to do a song like that.”
Jaywon disclosed that he recorded ‘Aje Wazobia’ remix with three top indigenous rappers from the three major ethnic groups in the country. He also said that the Aje Wazobia remix features Zlatan, Magnito and Phyno and would be released any moment.
