Nigerian actress cum politician, Funke Akindele, has revealed what happened after she split from JJC Skillz and reports started making rounds on media platforms.
She had a chat with media personality Chude Jideonwo and opened up on what she learnt from her failed marriage to the musician.
The mother-of-two said she just wanted to get married, have kids and start a family but things did not go as desired, so it led to a divorce.
Funke, fondly known as Jenifa, said she was on a movie set when someone told her that the media was reporting about her marriage crashing and it made her break down in tears.
She further revealed that her divorce had repercussions, including the loss of opportunities and it took an emotional toll on her.
On how she was able to pick up the broken pieces, the Nollywood star said her mother played a crucial role in helping her navigate through this challenging period.
Akindele concluded by offering advice to young women that they should learn from her experiences and avoid rushing into marriage.
She said; “Take your time, if you rush in you will rush out. You know, I just wanted to get married. I want to do things right, have children and all that. When I went into the marriage, it didn’t work fine. And it ended in a very bad way, in social media, the noise was everywhere. I was actually filming and somebody called me and told me, I wanted to die!
“You know I cried, lost some good deals then. But I didn’t let it break me. Thank God for my mum who encouraged me to put more effort to work. I channeled the energy to work and I kept saving more. I didn’t let the situation break me down.”
