President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, has reacted to the case of Zainab Aliyu, the student incriminated in drug-related matters and being detained by Saudi Arabian authorities.
Zainab Aliyu, a student of Maitama Sule University, Kano, who travelled for Lesser Hajj in Dec. 2018 was detained by the Saudi Arabia authorities for allegedly being in possession of a banned substance.
DAILY POST recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed Mr Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to immediately intervene in the case of Zainab Aliyu.
Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora matters, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, made this disclosure in a statement made available to DAILY POST by her media aide, Mr. Abdur-Rahman Balogun, on Monday.
She said, “President Muhammadu Buhari gave the directive immediately the matter was brought to his attention about two weeks ago.
“My office has been working with the AGF as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in that regard.”
Reacting, Onochie claimed that some Nigerians at the Airport deliberately planned and foisted pain on Zainab’s family.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Onochie wrote: “What Ms Zainab Aliyu and her family are going through now, cannot be imagined. Horrendous!
“Disheartening is that some Nigerians at an Airport deliberately planned and foisted this pain on Zainab. Evil
“Many Nigerians may have been executed in this way. My prayers are with Zainab.”
