How to enable WhatsApp dark mode on Android devices

WhatsApp has finally rolled out long-awaited dark mode for the app in the latest beta, according to Wabetainfo. WhatsApp’s latest version 2.20.13 will reportedly have the dark mode. Users love dark mode because it is easy on eyes and it also helps save battery life of your smartphone.

How to Enable Dark Mode on WhatsApp

If you want to enable dark mode on your WhatsApp, you should first make sure that you have the latest version 2.20.13 of WhatsApp installed.

Go to the Settings section of WhatsApp and tap on “Chats”.

Under the “Theme” option you will be able to see an option for dark theme. Just tap on it and the dark theme will be enabled for your WhatsApp.

If you are not able to see the dark theme option, the best way to move forward is to back up all your messages and WhatsApp data and uninstall your WhatsApp. After uninstalling, open Google Play Store and install WhatsApp again. When you install the app, you will automatically get the most latest version, which has the dark mode feature.

If you are still unable to see the dark mode option in your WhatsApp, it means WhatsApp has not yet rolled out the feature in your country. Just wait for a few weeks as WhatsApp plans to launch the dark mode for all the users around the world.

When enabled, dark theme looks beautiful and very pleasant for eyes. As expected, dark theme turns everything dark, and the color of the text goes white.

If you don’t like WhatsApp dark theme, you can always enable the light theme by going to settings.

Please note that for now the dark mode feature is only available for beta users. As WhatsApp isn’t accepting new signups for beta users, you will have to install the latest apk file for WhatsApp 2.20.13 from apk websites like APKMirror. Side-loading an apk file comes with some risks. However if you can’t wait to use WhatsApp dark mode, feel free to install the apk in your phone.

We expect WhatsApp to release dark mode for non-beta and iOS users in the coming weeks.
