South African singer and songwriter, Tyla has recounted how Nigerian superstar, Temilade Openiyi aka Tems caused a delay in the release of her debut album.
She said Tems sent in her verse for the track titled “NO 1” just as she was about to submit it to her record label, so she had to tell them to hold on.
Tyla made this disclosure during a recent chat on MTV Live, as she noted that she accorded Tems the status of “Queen” of African music hence why she was given preferential treatment per the project.
The ‘Water’ hit-maker also revealed that she has been working on her debut album named ‘Tyla’ after herself, for almost three years. She finally released the eponymous debut music project last Friday and it contains 14 tracks.
Speaking on the project, Tyla said; “I was about to submit the album then Tems sent her verse over and I was like wait, Tems just sent a song, I mean she’s the Queen.”
