Avwerosuoghene Omuvwie, lawyer of Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has explained why Bobrisky failed to show up at the ongoing house of representative investigation in Abuja.

On Thursday, September 26, the House of Representatives initiated an investigation into bribery allegations made by VeryDarkMan against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

All the accusations were directed at Bobrisky, alleging that he bribed EFCC and NCoS officials to avoid serving his jail term and to have the money laundering charges against him dropped following his arrest in April 2024.

However, the crossdresser and Verydarkman was invited to assist in the investigation. Video showed the moment Verydarkman arrived at the National Assembly with his lawyer Deji Adeyanju. He also added some twists as he came in with a Juju man.

Despite being summoned, Bobrisky failed to appear before the investigative panel, raising speculation among the public and media.

His lawyer, who was present at the hearing broke silence as he addressed why Bobrisky did not attend the investigation.

According to Bobrisky’s legal representative, the crossdresser is currently under some health conditions and coincided with the timeline of the investigation, making it impossible for him to attend.

In his words, “Mr Okuneye is unavailable absent because of his illness. I came here from Lagos this morning to show respect to the committee”.
