American rapper Onika Maraj, better known as Nicki Minaj, has revealed why she chose to work with Nigerian artist Davido.
Tontrends reported that the American rapper had featured the Afrobeat singer in her track, “If It’s Okay”. The track is part of the 10th-anniversary special edition of her iconic album, The Pink Print, which was originally released in 2014.
A fan identified as Tae had questioned why the rapper had chosen the singer for the song as he noted how Davido killed it.
“What drew you to Davido for the song “If It’s Okay”? In my opinion, he was an ideal choice for this incredible masterpiece! He was speaking that ish”.
Replying to him, Nicki Minaj said Davido is an incredible writer and melody maker, hence why she chose him. She added that it is always a great pleasure working with him because of their mutual respect for one another. She stated that she asked the singer to be a part of it to bring out the Afro beats.
“That man is an incredible writer & melody maker. It’s always a pleasure working with him b/c of our mutual respect for one another. I asked him to be a part of it to bring out the Afro-beats
tempo/feeling in it a bit more.
Naija to the world”.
