Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has rewarded Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali with N20m for his impressive performance at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations.
The governor hosted Nwabali, who is an indigene of the state, on Friday alongside Coach Jose Peseiro and the Rivers Hoppers Basketball Team.
Fubara bestowed the honour of Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State on the 26-year-old goalkeeper. He also announced a N30 million reward for the backroom staff of the Super Eagles.
In a statement on Saturday, Fubara said they all brought honour to the state, and he pledged his administration’s determination to sustain administrative efficiency.
He wrote on Twitter; “Yesterday, we appreciated those who brought honour to our dear State in the field of sports.
@NwabaliBobo and the @RiversHoopers Basketball team made the State proud by their superlative performances in the just concluded @TotalAFCON2023 and the Louis Edem National Basketball League respectively.
Our administration is determined to sustain purposeful governance and administrative efficiency by encouraging and honouring those who bring honour to the State.”
