Gov Yusuf approves N854 million Naira for mass wedding in Kano

The sum of 854 million Naira has been approved by the Kano State government for the first phase of the Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative in the state.

This was made known by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in a statement via his Twitter account on Thursday.

According to him, the approval was part of the decisions reached by the Kano State Executive Council during its meeting on Wednesday.

He revealed that the council also set up a committee on the pension arrears of retirees from the State Civil Service and also approved the rehabilitation of three pedestrian bridges in the state.

The Governor tweeted: “Also from yesterday’s meeting. The Kano State Executive Council has approved the following:

1. The release of the sum of 854 million Naira for the first phase of the Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative.

2. Constitution of a special committee to settle outstanding pension arrears for retirees from the Kano State Civil Service.

3. Rehabilitation of 3 nos pedestrian bridges at Bayero University Kano Old Campus, Aminu Kano College of Legal and Islamic Studies, and the Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education. – AKY.”

Earlier, Governor Yusuf had also revealed that the State Executive Council approved the release of the sum of N700m to settle tuition fees for 7000 students of Bayero University Kano (BUK).

“As part of our efforts to cushion the biting effects of our current economic reality; The Kano State Executive Council under my leadership has today, approved the release of the sum of Seven Hundred Million Naira to settle tuition fees for 7000 students of Bayero University Kano (BUK), ” he tweeted.
