“Gov. Wike may face sanctions if he announces a preferred candidate other than Atiku” -Rufai Oseni

A leading Nigerian journalist, Rufai Oseni, has reacted to Governor Nyesom Wike’s announcement that he will unveil his preferred presidential candidate in January.

Oseni spoke concerning the preferred candidate of the Rivers State governor during his interview on VOP.

Addressing the topic, Oseni said, “I would probably not be a journalist if I were a mind reader.” Wike has the right to pick whoever he wishes to nominate. However, I hope he knows that it would be anti-party for him to pick anyone other than the PDP presidential candidate. The PDP might sanction Wike if he does that since he still claims to be a PDP member. Wike should also remember his governorship candidate, Fubara, is in the race on the PDP platform.

Wike is within his rights to make his choice, and this will put an end to his long game.

He continued, “This speaks volumes about politicians, and that is why I tell Nigerians to be observant.” Politicians form alliances and make deals based on their interests. However, the masses should be more concerned about how to make politics work for them and lead to developmental strides.
