President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their 4-2 penalty-point victory over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
In the thrilling semi-final match, Nigeria defeated South Africa 4-2 in a penalty shootout on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake. Nigeria’s replacement, Kelechi Iheanacho, scored the winning goal.
The game ended 1-1 during extra time. On Sunday, February 11, the hosts, Ivory Coast, or the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will square off against the three-time winners.
President Tinubu responded by pleading with the Super Eagles to go above and beyond in their upcoming match Writing on his X account on Wednesday night. Tinubu said;

Similarly, in a tweet on his X account, Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for 2023, Peter Obi, praised the Eagles for their tenacity and preparedness to bring home the trophy.
“Today was yet another victorious outing for Nigeria as our National Team, the Super Eagles displayed great fighting spirit, beating the Bafana Bafana of South Africa to take Nigeria to the finals in the ongoing AFCON games. “Our team has maintained great determination, professionalism, and patriotism with a high energy level, signifying their readiness to bring home the trophy.
