A Nigerian man, Quadri Yakubu said that he has never b£aten his wife in and will teach his daughter not to marry a wife beater.

He stated this on Tuesday while reacting to the angry reactions following comments made by the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.

The Emir said he always tells his daughters whenever they are getting married that if their husbands slap them, he expects them to return the slap.

The monarch who made this known at the National Dialogue on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention from an Islamic perspective, said domestic violence form 45 per cent of cases across nine Shari’a Courts of Kano in five years.

Taking to Facebook, Yakubu wrote;

“I learnt that some people are angry with this statement. It’s almost 11 years of Marriage for me and my wife, I have never beaten my wife and I doubt if I will ever, same way I will train my daughter not to marry a wife beater, Quadri wrote.

“Is my marriage perfect? No, But there are ways of resolving disputes. Do not turn your wife/wives to a punching Bag. In summary, do not marry a non living thing. I am aware there are women who beat their husbands too, but shame no dey allow the men to speak up.”
