The Police in Anambra have arrested a four-man gang, who allegedly robbed a 21-year-old girl of her belonging, abducted and forcefully had sex with her, while also using video made from the sex to blackmail her.
Spokesperson of the State police command, SP Haruna Mohammed, who disclosed the arrest of the suspects, said the four-man gang was arrested on Wednesday by men of the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) in conjunction with men of the recently launched Operation Kpochakpu.
Haruna said, “On the 20/11/2019 at about 03:30am, Police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti robbery Squad (SARS) in conjunction with the recently launched Operations Kpochakpu by Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano arrested members of the syndicate at Ozubulu.”
He disclosed the identity of the suspects to include; “Collins Okpala ‘m’ aged 25 years, Nwachukwu Chimuanya ‘m’ aged 20years, Kenechukwu Anyasi ‘m’ aged 23 years and, Pascal Ogbuagu ‘m’ aged 22 years.
“Suspects had on the 14/2/2019 abducted a girl of about 21 years old (Name withheld) robbed her of her belongings and equally gang-raped her severally.
“Furthermore, the suspects made a pornographic video clip of the rape incident and used the video to blackmail the victim to the tune of one million naira (N1,000,000).”
Haruna Mohammed said the suspects have confessed to the crime, while the sex tape was also recovered from their phones and registered as exhibit.
“They will soon be charged to court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded,” he added.
