A Nigerian man who now resides in the United Kingdom (UK) has encouraged others by describing how his salary increased after moving abroad.
Dipo Awojide, the man, encouraged young people to accept tiny employment offers and gain experience after completing their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in a post.
Dipo stated that he was paid N10,000 by the government and N22,500 by Wema Bank, where he completed his NYSC.
However, he remained in his own country to finish the NYSC and gather experience before heading abroad for further studies and work.
Dipo encouraged others by describing how his income increased from £15,000 (N18 million) in 2011 to £33,000 (N40 million) in 2015 after completing his PhD in the United Kingdom. On X, Dipo stated:
“If you get a job paying N100K in Lagos or Abuja after NYSC please take it if you don’t currently have a better option. Start from somewhere, gain real-life experience, develop fantastic employability skills and brand yourself excellently. After a while, aim higher and apply for better jobs. Don’t get stuck. Don’t wait forever doing nothing. Make sure you are earning and learning, constantly!”
In 2009 during my NYSC, I earned N22,500 from Wema Bank plus N10,000 from the federal government. It was enough money for me to flex and do omo boy in Abuja.
Few years down the line, my income improved exponentially. At some point in 2011, I got offered around £15,000, then…
