Floods have again killed one person and rendered several others homeless following a heavy downpour at Kari village in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Over 300 farmlands were also said to have been destroyed as a result of the downpour.
TON Trends reported that one person was killed while over 100 houses were destroyed last Monday at Dindima village in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, following flooding that swept through the area rendering many homeless.
The flood also caused havoc at Liman Katagum in Bauchi Local Government Area of the state.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Darazo Local Government Area, Garau Adamu, disclosed this on Friday when he paid a sympathy visit to the residents of the area.
Adamu who was represented by the Head of Administration of the LGA, Ibrahim Mohammed, called on parents to warn their children to stop endangering their lives by going to the rivers at this period.
He said: “We want to warn parents and guardians to guide their children against going to the river for whatever purposes because the rainy season is now at its peak and the water level at the river is rising very high.
The Caretaker Chairman commiserated the victim’s family and urged them to see the incident as an act of God.
He reiterated the commitment of the state government to offer assistance to the affected persons after an assessment of damage must have been carried out.
