The federal government has begun payment of the new minimum wage to civil servants in the country.

Those who have received the payment as their August salaries were junior public workers from grade 1 to 6.

This was confirmed on Sunday, September 22, by Lawrence Amaechi, the national president of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU).

Junior public servants from grade 1 to 6 have begun receiving payment of the new minimum wage from the federal government for August 2019 salary.

He said: “The disclosure was made by the secretary to the Trade Union Side (TUS) of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC), Alade Bashir Lawal.”

“However, NCSU’s president said that the union has begun mobilisation with the hope that the federal government will improve o what it has started.”

Meanwhile, Our Agency reported that Organised Labour had heightened its planned nationwide strike over consequential adjustment arising from the N30,000 new minimum wage, saying only president Muhammadu Buhari’s personal intervention can stop the industrial action.

The disclosure was made by the secretary to the Trade Union Side (TUS) of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC), Alade Bashir Lawal.
