Mrs. Funmi Falana, wife of Mr Femi Falana (SAN), on Friday expressed confidence that justice would be served in the death of a young musician, Ilerioluwa Aloba (a.k.a Mohbad).

The musician sadly passed away on September 12 at the age of 27.

His untimely demise has stirred up controversies, leading the Lagos State Government to order a coroner’s inquest into the circumstances surrounding his death.

A preliminary meeting regarding this inquest was held at the courthouse on Friday.

Rapper Falz’s mum, Mrs Falana, who is a human rights activist and the lawyer representing the late singer’s family, told journalists that the meeting was to discuss the modalities for the inquest including witnesses to bring before the court.

She added that the coroner’s inquest would do everything within its capacity to get to the root of Mohbad’s death.

Speaking in an interview with The PUNCH, she said,

“The sitting today was just a preliminary one to discuss the modalities and procedure, as well as how to go about it. It is just a corona’s inquest, and not a formal court hearing.

“The expectation is that justice will be served. We would get to the root of the cause of Mohbad’s death. That is the reason we are there, and we are fully confident that we would get justice.”

Meanwhile, October 13, 2023, has been fixed for witnesses in the case to appear at the inquest. However, journalists were barred from witnessing the proceedings, allegedly on the orders of the Chief Magistrate, Tajudeen Elias.

Falana, however, stated that the identities of the witnesses that would be presented before the court could not be revealed until they appeared before the court.
