Nigerian Afrobeat sensation, David Adeleke, otherwise known as Davido has debunked rumours of his arrest after his concert in Uganda.
The 31-year-old music exeutive said such reports are ‘untrue’, and aimed at generating social media engagements.
In a press statement issued via his Twitter account on Tuesday, Davido disclosed that his legal representative was seeking to take legal action against the persons or group for false publications against his personality.
Recall that on Monday, there were reports of the DMW boss, who is currently on a world tour, getting picked up by the police after his performance in Uganda Monday, April 1.
However, Davido clarified that he wasn’t arrested as he has returned to Nigeria ater having successful shows in Uganda and Kenya. He noted that he has never been arrested for any crime throughout his career.
His statement reads: “Fam, it has come to my attention that false reports regarding an arrest circulated online on April 1st, which has since led to a barrage of calls. I want to assure my fans that these reports are entirely untrue. I successfully completed my scheduled shows in Uganda and Kenya and have since returned home to Nigeria.
“I’d also like to note that I have never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world. Not my home Nigeria, my home America, or any of the hundreds of countries I’ve made home throughout my career.
“I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’, and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinformation. Thank you for your continued support. Our blessings are from God. I love you all.”
