The President of Ghana His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo has stated that the prices of foodstuffs in Ghana are the lowest in two decades.
He made this profound statement in an address at a press conference at the World Economic Forum which is still underway in Davos, Switzerland.
President Akufo Addo revealed that the reduction of prices of foodstuffs which is a remarkable feat achieved in the last two decades in Ghana is due to the successful implementation of his administration’s Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ).
He also told journalists that the execution PFJ programme has seen a decline in the importation of basic foodstuffs.
“We have reversed this situation. We are now net exporters of food stuffs again. We have had two bumper harvests in Ghana and in the last two years, we have stopped importing maize, we have cut down on our import of rice.” He explained.
