Coronavirus: Comedian AY, Laura Ikeji, others encourage Nigerians to be calm


Top Nigerian celebrities, comedian AY, Laura Ikeji, Bryan Okwara and many others are using their social media handle to encourage Nigerian citizens to remain calm after the news broke on Friday morning that an Italian, businessman tested positive to coronavirus at a Lagos hospital.

The social media has been agog with posts on how to prevent the spread of the virus.

Though the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat was on ‘Your view’ television show on TVC clear the air on the current situation, many citizens, especially Lagos residents are still disturbed by the news.

This may be part of the reason, popular celebrities have taken it upon themselves to help cushion the situation by asking their fans and general public to remain calm.

While fashion and social media influencer, Laura Ikeji-Kanu was among the first few to share video of the Deputy Governor’s interview, popular comedian, AY Makun, posted this comment on his Instagram, “Let’s be calm without throwing caution to the wind, this too shall pass”.

Nollywood actor and model, Bryan Okwara begged his fans to remain calm and safe while upholding utmost hygiene. “Please be safe out there family. Observe a good and clean hygiene. Wash your hands regularly and sanitize. God bless,” he said
