Chelsea are back in the race to sign Napoli’s star striker Victor Osimhen, with talks reportedly progressing.

The latest deal is said to include a potential cash-plus-player deal involving Romelu Lukaku.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Blues are finally considering a permanent transfer, which would see Osimhen head to Stamford Bridge, fulfilling a long-standing pursuit.

Fabrizio Romano in a Tweet on Tuesday night also confirmed that Chelsea never left the race for Osimhen, despite reports.

“Chelsea have never left the race for Victor Osimhen, despite reports this month.

“Interest has always been and remains there, but Osimhen’s still only open to leaving only on permanent transfer and not reducing his salary. No changes so far,” he added.

Chelsea’s renewed interest comes after their negotiations with Atletico Madrid for Samu Omorodion fell through.

The London club now see Osimhen as a key target, with coach Enzo Maresca reportedly pushing for the deal.

However, obstacles remain. Osimhen, who has been linked with several top clubs, is unwilling to accept a pay cut from his current Napoli salary.

He also rejects the idea of a loan move with an option to buy, demanding a permanent transfer with a lucrative contract.
