Burna Boy who is 28 lost to Beninese music legend, Angelique Kidjo her fourth win in the category and fourth GRAMMY win overall.

Angelique Kidjo beat fellow nominees Altin Gün (Gece), Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley (What Heat), Burna Boy (African Giant) and Natalie Joachim with Spektral Quartet (Fanm D’ Ayiti) .

Angelique Kidjo’s 2019 album titled ‘Celia’ earned her the award.

Meanwhile, a Nigeria Freelance Journalist have stated the reasons Burna Boy could not win the award as he gives full credit to the eventual winner saying she is more original than the Afro-fusion artist.

“I have said it before, I will keep saying it. Sentiments aside, Burna boy is NO competition for Angelique Kidjo. Maybe until he drops an ORIGINAL hit song, then he will win a Grammy.
He even copies Kidjo’s style in his songs…
Did y’all expect him to beat her at this rate and level? Smh
BTW: Well done Burna, you have done well”
