BREAKING: Ararume’s ally, Collins becomes Imo Assembly Speaker 3 days after dumping APGA for PDP

The member representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency, Hon Chiji Collins, has been elected unopposed as Speaker Imo State House of Assembly.

Collins is a political son of Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, the 2019 Imo Governorship Candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

It was gathered that Governor Emeka Ihedioha and Ararume reached an understanding before the choice of Collins as Speaker.

Collins was nominated by the member representing Ehime Mbano State Constituency, Hon Lawman Duruji of the Action Alliance (AA) and seconded by the member representing Obowo State Constituency, Hon Kennedy Ibeh also of the AA.

The new Speaker was elected under the APGA platform but defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday June 10.
