Super star R&B singer, rapper, actor and politician Bankole Wellington popularly known as BankyW excitedly announced on his official verified Twitter account that the Nollywood movie Sugar Rush is back after ban. Some days ago The National Film and Video Censors Board ordered cinemas nationwide to stop showing the recently released comedy movie titled Sugar Rush. The film, which has grossed about N160m since its release on December 25, 2019, was directed by Kayode Kasum and largely publicised by singer Bankole Wellington.
The NVFCB, Executive Director, Adedayo Thomas, said that the movie was not suspended because of some scenes found to portray the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as an incompetent organisation. The movie was, however, removed from cinemas by the NFVCB, the Federal Government agency responsible for classifying movies and giving approval for release. They further revealed that the temporary approval given for the movie exhibition expired, reasons why it was banned from showing in the cinemas
Some of their colleague have also joined them in tweeting about the movie back to the cinemas.
