The assault case against afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, has been adjourned September 27th.The case was to come up for hearing at the Magistrate court in Yaba, Lagos state on Monday, September 4 but was adjourned due to the absence of the Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun.
Recall that the singer was nabbed after the former Inspector General of Police Usman Baba on May 13 ordered his arrest for assaulting a police officer in uniform on the Third Mainland Bridge in May this year. A video of the singer charging at the officer and assaulting him made the rounds on social media.
On May 15, the singer turned himself in and was afterward placed under arrest. In his defense, the son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti said the police officer tried to kill he would not press charges.
He was arrested, handcuffed and taken to the state CID in Panti, Yaba for investigation but was released on May 23 after meeting the conditions of his bail. He was arraigned in court for assaulting the police officer, an offence contrary to Section 356 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act.
