APC Mega Rally: Obaseki lied, Ize-Iyamu wrote him officially, insists, ‘National Chairman graciously approved the declaration day’

It has been fully established that Governor Godwin Obaseki lied on camera when he claimed to be unaware of the Friday’s planned mega rally by his own party, the All Progressives Congress in Edo State.

A letter exclusively obtained by Tontrends on Wednesday, reveals that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who is defecting to the APC on Friday, formally wrote Obaseki intimating him of his plans.

In the letter addressed to Obaseki, Ize-Iyamu graciously extended an invitation to the Governor to attend his formal declaration, saying, “we are coming back to APC to join strengthen the party”, revealing that the National Chairman approved the declaration day.

Ize-Iyamu, who in the letter reminded Obaseki of his plans to resign his membership of the PDP alongside others, had requested an appointment with the Governor to discuss the formal declaration.

Tontrends, however, reliably gathered from an impeccable source that the former PDP governorship candidate was unable to secure an appointment with Obaseki, as all attempts to speak directly with the Governor proved abortive.

This development, according to an official of the APC who craved anonymity, may have informed the National Chairman of the Party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to graciously approve a “convenient date” for the formal declaration.

A copy of Ize-Iyamu’s letter obtained by Tontrends reads, “Your Excellency, Compliments of the season. You will kindly recall my phone conversations with you wherein I informed you of my decision to resign from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) alongside several others and return to the All Progressives Congress.

“I had requested in those conversations for an appointment with you to discuss our formal declaration but unfortunately could not secure a date from you for the appointment. When the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole graciously gave us a convenient date to attend the declaration, I had to send you a text communicating the information since I could not reach you by phone.”

The letter dated December 9, 2019, also carried an official invitation in writing, inviting Governor Obaseki to attend the formal declaration slated for Friday, stating date, time and venue.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu going forward in the letter, informed Governor Obaseki of his plans to come and join in strengthening the ruling party in the state.

“Your Excellency, I hold you in the highest esteem and we are coming back to APC to help strengthen the party.

“I wish to formally invite you as the leader of the party in the state to our formal declaration on Friday 13th December, 2019 at Garrick Memorial School, Benin-City at 11am.

“I will be most delighted and honored if you can attend this event”, the letter personally signed by Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu read.

Recall that the State Secretary of the Party, Engr. Lawrence Okah had sent out a public invitation inviting all members of the party and Edo people at large, to the formal declaration of some personalities who will be coming to join the APC on Friday.

Interestingly, Obaseki same day issued a statement denying knowledge of any of the plans as it concerns the mega rally.

Could it be that the Governor is giving excuses in order to boycott the APC gathering, since he is now 80 percent member of the PDP?

Or could it be that he made the statement in order to disrupt activities of the party using state-sponsored and imported thugs?

What is Governor Obaseki afraid of?

Only time shall tell. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
