An angry mob has attacked and severely beat three suspected kidnappers after they were allegedly caught planning to abduct a victim at Victory Estate in Ago Palace of Lagos State.

In a now-viral video, one of the suspects, identified as Starling Emmanuel from Imo State, confessed that he and his gang had come to the estate for a kidnapping operation.

Emmanuel, who resides near Community Bus Stop, admitted to leading the foiled attempt.

The second suspect, Ifeanyi from Anambra State, said he lives in Ijesha, while the third suspect, Sodiq from Kwara State, claimed to reside in Surulere.

The trio was confronted by angry residents who first dragged them into a gutter before they were subjected to beatings while questioning their intentions.

Meanwhile, during their interrogation, the suspects admitted that Emmanuel had invited them for the failed kidnapping operation. When asked if he was the gang leader, Emmanuel repeatedly responded, “Yes, sir.”

However, residents sternly warned them never to return to the estate for criminal activities or make any attempt to kidnap ever again.

The Lagos State Police Command reacting said it has commenced an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the activities of three suspected kidnappers captured in the viral video.

Sharing the video in a post on his official X handle on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Benjamin Hundeyin said though the “matter was not reported to the police”, investigations have commenced.

He wrote, “Investigations have commenced to unravel what truly transpired, locate the men and take further necessary actions.

“The estate chairman, two other exco members and a resident are currently assisting the Police with the ongoing investigations.

“Further updates will be provided in due course”.
