Anambra ready for minimum wage adjustment

Governor of Anambra state

Anambra Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has declared the readiness of his administration for payment of minimum wage adjustment.

He said he was committed towards upward adjustment of workers’ salaries in line with provisions of the new minimum wage in Akwa.

The governor spoke while addressing Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria MHWUN, during its 2019 Quadrennial delegates Conference.

According to him: “This will be effected immediately the guidelines for implementation are released.”

He reminded the workers of his commitment to their welfare, even before the minimum wage issue was raised by labour.

Obiano said that minimum wage of N30, 000 had been passed into law but the contentious issue of consequential increment remained unresolved.

He however appealed for understanding, calm and sense of discretion by workers.

Obiano wished their challenges would be given due consideration by the government to enable them to function effectively.
