Nollywood star Funke Akindele has called on fans to rally behind her latest blockbuster, *Everybody Loves Jenifa*, as it edges closer to a historic ₦2 billion box office milestone.

The film has already grossed an impressive ₦1.8 billion, making it one of Nigeria’s highest-earning movies. However, in a humorous video shared on her X handle on Saturday, Akindele clarified that she does not take home the entire sum, as cinemas, tax authorities, and distributors all claim their share.

“Abeg, no be only me get the ₦1.8 billion o! Cinema go collect, tax go collect, distributor go collect! Maybe when I get to ₦2 billion, I fit settle,”
she joked, urging fans to keep watching the movie in cinemas.

Meanwhile, Akindele has solidified her dominance in Nollywood, emerging as the highest-grossing lead actress of 2024, according to a report by FilmOne, a leading movie distribution company.

Wunmi Toriola followed closely in second place for her film *Queen Lateefah*, while Toyin Abraham secured the third spot with *Alakada Bad and Boujee*. Other notable mentions include Tomike Adeoye (*Ajosepo*), Eniola Ajao (*Beast of Two Worlds: Ajakaju*), and Kehinde Bankole (*Funmilayo Ransome Kuti*), who ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.

Adunni Ade (*Lakatabu*), Uche Nwaefuna (*Thinline*, *Silent Intruder*, *The Betrayed*), Regina Daniels, and Gbugbemi Ejeye (*Farmer’s Bride*) rounded out the top ten highest-grossing lead actresses of the year.

With *Everybody Loves Jenifa* on track to break more records, Funke Akindele remains a formidable force in Nollywood’s box office success.
