“Pastors can pray for you but they cannot solve your problems” – Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the founder and senior pastor of Salvation Ministries International addressed the common misconception that prayers alone can solve all problems at their “Reigning With The Word” Sunday service.

In his sermon, he emphasized the importance of personal responsibility and actively seeking solutions through the Word of God, rather than relying solely on pastors for intervention.

Ibiyeomie explained that while pastors can offer spiritual guidance and pray for individuals, the ultimate responsibility for resolving life’s challenges lies with each person.

“Pastors can pray for you but they cannot solve your problems,” he said, stressing that simply receiving prayers without taking steps to gain knowledge and wisdom from God’s Word will not lead to lasting solutions.

He used the analogy of food to illustrate his point. “If they pray for you for God to supply food, will they pray for the food to enter your mouth?” Ibiyeomie asked, emphasizing that prayer must be accompanied by action and understanding.

He advised that believers should not depend solely on the prayers of their spiritual leaders, but should also study the Bible and apply its principles to their lives.

“Our problem is spiritual laziness,” he stated, pointing out that many people would rather seek out prayer than take the time to find solutions in scripture.

He encouraged individuals to seek knowledge through Christian resources, books, and teachings, adding that “There’s an answer to every question of life in the Word of God.”

Pastor Ibiyeomie then urged his congregation to stop placing the burden of solving their problems solely on pastors. Instead, he called on them to take responsibility by diving deeper into God’s Word, which contains the wisdom needed to overcome life’s challenges
