Popular Nigerian skit maker and actor, Adebowale ‘Debo’ Adedayo, better known as Mr Macaroni is currently making headlines online after he mocked President Tinubu in his latest comedy with his colleague, Otunba Korex.
Mr Macaroni, known for sharp wit and fearless commentary on societal issues, took to his Instagram page as he shared snippet of his new skit, addressing the ongoing Nigeria issues about the reintroduced National anthem.
On May 23, 2024, the National Assembly passed a bill to replace “Arise, O Compatriots” with “Nigeria, We Hail Thee”. President Bola Tinubu signed it into law on May 29, 2024. The lyrics of the anthem were penned by Lillian Jean Williams, a British expatriate residing in Nigeria during its independence, while Frances Berda composed the music.
In his newest comedy skit, Mr Macaroni humorously mocked the government’s choice to focus on changing the national anthem instead of tackling urgent problems like hunger and poverty in Nigeria.
The video captured the moment he engaged with Otunba Korex in a humorous dialogue. Mr Macaroni sarcastically suggested that perhaps singing the national anthem could magically solve the hunger, sparking reactions online.
He and her colleague were seen reciting the anthem as they analyzed the lyrics, leaving fans and followers into fits of laughter.
