Controversial artiste, Habeeb Okikiola also known as Portable, has advised Nigerian artistes to prioritise the country’s genre, Afrobeats over Amapiano.
He spoke in reaction to the outcome of the Grammy show which saw South African singer, Tyla winning an award ahead of Burna Boy, Davido and other Nigerians.
In a video posted on social media, Portable called on Nigeria and Nigerians to value what they have, hence why they should promote only Afrobeats.
According to the Zazuu star, it is important for his people to do what he said if they wanted to continue winning international awards.
While trying to back his position with reference, he stated that there was shaku shaku before the amapiano sound was created.
Portable further noted that Amapiano belongs to South Africans, and he warned that the sound and its music cannot get Nigerians a Grammy Award.
Watch him speak below:
“Let’s promote Afrobeats and leave Amapiano for South Africans”
