Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state has said he will personally report to President Bola Tinubu about the hunger in the country
The governor stated this during a meeting with the business community and other stakeholders, at the Government House, Kano, on Monday..
“I’m going to personally reports the devastating hunger and starvation, coupled with rising prices of essential commodities in Kano, with a view for the President to intervene and help bring succor to the people,” he said.
Speaking on his administration’s plans to tackle economic challenges in the state, he added, “One of the measures we are considering is the streamlining of tax collection to allow businesses thrive in Kano, so that instead of every hour collectors are busy disturbing members of the business community, they should pay either monthly.”
He said the rate at which the cost of foodstuff and other daily needs is rising was alarming, hence the urgent need to put heads together with a view to finding lasting solution to the menace .
“The purpose of this gathering is to fine-tune modalities on how to address the menace of high inflation because people are really suffering and we need to do something about this.”
