The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has warned its customers against patronising touts and giving bribes.
Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, stated this in a statement issued on Monday, Dec. 11, in Lagos.
He said that the authority had gone out of its way to hire undercover agents to observe and report misbehavior at airports.
The statement reads: “The Managing Director of FAAN at a recent event gave a severe warning to staff, as well as all government agencies that operate at our airports that FAAN will ensure that whoever is culpable is punished.
“Do not give bribes or encourage extortion.
“Respect rules and regulations in respect of carriage of prohibited articles, liquids, and gel.
“We have information desks at all our airports to assist you. Please make use of them.”
Yakubu-Funtua stated that FAAN had taken measures to strengthen the security equipment to safeguard the safety of the traveling public’s lives and property.
He advised Nigerians to have faith in the airports throughout the Yuletide season.
The official recommended passengers come to airports early to avoid crowds and missing their flights.
According to him, FAAN has increased airport screening areas to provide travelers with a better flying experience.
