An Ondo-based chef, Adeola Adeyeye, 26 popularly called Chef Deo has revealed that her attempt to cook for 150 hours got the approval of Guinnest World Records.
The chef is attempting to displace the current cook-a-thon Guinness World Records, GWR, holder, Hilda Baci.
With the aim of surpassing Baci’s 93 hours and 11 minutes record, Chef Deo, revealed that she had informed GWR of her intentions and received the green light before commencing the cook-a-thon.
During a visit by DAILY POST to the community, where people within and outside the town had been trooping into, the graduate of Esae University, Cotonou, Benin Republic had gone past 47 hours.
This feat by Chef Deo comes just weeks after another Nigerian chef, Adeparusi Damilola, popularly known as Chef Dammy, undertook a 120-hour cook-a-thon in Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
However, Dammy reportedly failed to notify GWR before embarking on the cooking marathon.
Chef Deo’s cook-a-thon challenge commenced on June 30, 2023, in Ile-Oluji, the headquarters of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government in Ondo State.
The cook-a-thon is scheduled to be concluded on July 6, 2023.
Speaking on the determination of the chef, her manager, Ayotunde Fagbamiye, revealed that after a thorough review and assessment, GWR, acknowledged and authorized her to proceed with the record attempt.
Fagbamiye expressed Chef Deo’s optimism and enthusiasm in accomplishing the task and becoming the new record holder of a cook-a-thon.
“Guinness World Records granted her approval to undertake the cook-a-thon.
“We were elated upon receiving the notification that she can proceed to break the record for an individual’s cooking marathon.
“She possesses great energy and is prepared to cook for 150 hours.
“Her passion and determination are evident, and I am confident she will successfully reach the end of this journey,” her manager said.
