Here are 8 unique facts about the late Nollywood actor, Saint Obi (1965 – 2023):
1. Born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Saint Obi spent his childhood in Jos, Plateau State.
2. He obtained a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Jos.
3. Saint Obi served in Makurdi, Benue State, during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) period, where he served alongside the well-known comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka.
4. He was the only son among eight daughters in his family.
5. Obi proudly produced his first movie in 2001. The film received critical acclaim and was released in 2003.
6. Standing at six feet, two inches tall, Saint Obi was born on November 16, 1965, and hailed from Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State.
7. He gained recognition through a major TV commercial for Peugeot on NTA and officially became a Nollywood actor in 1996.
8. Throughout his career, he appeared in over 60 movies.
In addition to his acting talents, Saint Obi was a skilled footballer and played as a goalkeeper at the division three level for several years while in Plateau State.
Sadly, on May 7, 2023, the 57-year-old actor, Obinna Nwafor, popularly known as Saint Obi, passed away after a prolonged battle with an undisclosed illness.
