2023 Elections: Tinubu lost in Yobe State because an influential cleric instructed people to vote for Atiku – Yobe APC chairman

Yobe chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka aka Bill Gates has explained why the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, lost in last Saturday’s presidential elections in the State.

Yobe has been considered the stronghold of the APC but the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar won with 198,567 votes against Tinubu’s 151,459 votes.

Speaking to The Nation, Gadaka explained that the defeat was because an influential cleric instructed people to vote for Atiku, which affected what the APC and Governor could do so.

“After the Izala people made a statement to support Tinubu, then Shiek Dahiru Bauchi People told him that he should also take a stand on a political party and so he too made a statement,” he said.

“Shiek Dahiru Bauchi also made a statement that his people should vote for Atiku and that is what caused this change in the Northeast. He has a lot of followers in the northeast and in Yobe too. But for the next election, it is not going to happen this way,”

He denied that Buni worked against the APC presidential candidate.

“I want to tell the people who are claiming that Gov. Buni did anti-party that it is not true. The influence of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi on the people is what caused the outcome of the presidential election. It was beyond our Governor. We are solidly behind our candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be forming the next Government Isha Allah. People should not forget that APC won all the three senators in the state and this is a clear sign that Yobe is a stronghold of the APC.” he added.
