A gospel singer, Timileyin Ajayi, was arrested on Sunday after being found with the severed head of his girlfriend, 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, near a church.
The shocking incident has left many people horrified, as Timileyin explained his actions in a chilling confession to the police.
In a video that was shared by Channels Television, according to the suspect, he and Salome had been dating for over a year, but their relationship was described as “complicated.” He claimed Salome’s family was unaware of their relationship and that they rarely spent time together.
Timileyin said he acted out of anger and jealousy after discovering messages on Salome’s phone that suggested she was cheating on him. “I caught her cheating. She refused to admit it until I showed her the chats. She apologized, but I couldn’t take it lightly,” he stated.
On the day of the incident, Salome had visited Timileyin at his home. After confronting her about the messages, he claimed she admitted to cheating but promised it wouldn’t happen again. However, Timileyin said he couldn’t forgive her.
“I took a knife from the bathroom. When she was lying down, I held her neck and did what I had to do,” he confessed.
Despite his actions, Timileyin showed no remorse. “I don’t have any regrets. Life is reciprocal. If you’re with someone, you must reciprocate and understand each other. That’s why I did what I did,” he said.
Police confirmed that Timileyin surrendered himself after the crime. Investigations are ongoing.
