Several parts of Nigeria were plunged into darkness on Saturday following a collapse of the national grid, the first occurrence of the year.
According to data obtained from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org), the collapse occurred at 1:56 pm.
This incident follows a pattern of instability, with the grid suffering about 12 consecutive collapses in 2024.
The cause of the latest failure is yet to be disclosed by government authority, as of filing the report.
However, it was observed that there is a power supply in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and other places.
Recall that the National Grid recorded at least twelve collapses in 2024 alone.
