Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, the lead pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), delivered a message on the seventh evening of their 12 Days of Glory program, addressing the deceptive allure of wealth and success in the world.

Pastor Fatoyinbo emphasized that the devil can indeed make people rich, but the prosperity that comes from such sources is fleeting and ultimately damaging.

He cautioned, “Anybody who tells you the devil cannot prosper you is lying to you. Anybody who tells you the devil cannot make you rich is lying to you.”

He went on to explain that many people mistakenly believe that wealth can only come through righteous means, but warned that the devil often lures individuals with promises of riches and success in exchange for their souls.

He referenced the temptation of Jesus Christ by the devil, recounting the moment when the devil took Jesus to a high mountain and offered Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. “Look, I will give you the kingdoms of this world and their glory,” the devil said, but Jesus rejected the offer.

Pastor Fatoyinbo stressed that Jesus’ refusal was because accepting such a gift would have meant being bound to the devil’s influence, a cost Jesus was unwilling to pay.

The pastor also pointed out that although the devil can give wealth and success, it comes with sorrow and disgrace in the end. “The blessing of the Lord makes rich and has no sorrow,” he declared, highlighting the eternal value of blessings that come from God, as opposed to those derived from the devil.

He then urged believers to seek the Lord’s blessings, which are genuine and lasting, rather than seeking shortcuts through dark spiritual avenues that lead to destruction.
