Popular Nigerian content creator and TikToker Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, has revealed a surprising early struggle with his TikTok journey.

The 19-year-old comic star revealed this during his recent interview on the Honest Podcast, where he appeared alongside his love interest, Jarvis. The podcast is hosted by Wazobia FM’s Nedu, Husband Materials, and other notable personalities.

Peller, known for his sarcastic manner and improper ways of speaking English, revealed that he initially started his TikTok contents with good English, but it did not gain good traction.

He mentioned that initially, only his family members, numbering no more than five, viewed his content. It wasn’t until he started using casual or “bad” English that his videos began receiving around 2,000 views.

In his words, “I started my TikTok with good English, but I used to get like 10 views, and 5 of them were my family members, but when I started going live with my bad English, I started getting more than 2k views. If you want to make it on TikTok, you have to act like a dull person.”

It is worth noting that Peller is a Nigerian online streamer and content creator. Peller gained prominence in 2021 for his sarcastic demeanor and playful reluctance during live streams. He currently holds the record for the most-viewed stream in Africa, amassing 76,000 views, surpassing his earlier record of 60,000 views, which featured renowned Nigerian artist Olamide. In 2024, he was honored with the “Best Content Creator” award at the Trace Awards & Festival.
