Nigerian music star Ayo Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has opened up on his experiences with fellow artists during the early stages of his career.
In a resurfaced interview, the Grammy-winning singer recounted how aspiring musicians would often gather outside his residence, seeking opportunities to collaborate with him.
Wizkid, who rose to prominence in 2010, described these moments as reflective of his defining years in the music industry.
As one of Nigeria’s most influential artists, he has played a significant role in uplifting others, collaborating with a wide range of talents, including Tiwa Savage, Seyi Shay, and Olamide.
Despite his support for his peers, Wizkid expressed disappointment that many artists fail to acknowledge his contributions to their success.
Sharing an example, he recalled offering a female artist a 10% discount to make a collaboration more accessible.
However, he lamented the lack of gratitude he has often experienced from those he has helped.
